Pelvic Floor
Pelvic Floor exercises are more than just Kegels!
Did you know the pelvic floor consists of skeletal muscles, and just like other parts of your body these muscles can be tight, weak, and painful. The muscles and connective tissue that make up your pelvic floor help to stabilize your core while also assisting your bodily functions like bowel movements, peeing, and having sex. While many think that pelvic floor issues are exclusive to women who are about to or recently gave birth, both male and female bodies have a pelvic floor and it can weaken over time from injuries or normal aging, which can lead to issues like incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse.
Pelvic floor physical therapy does not just consist of a regiment of Kegels, it is far more comprehensive (we prefer the term “pelvic floor muscle contractions”).
*Note: Pelvic floor physical therapy is only available at our North Alvernon Way location.
