Chronic Pain
Do I have to just live with Chronic Pain?
Did you know that research into chronic pain has exploded in the last 10 years? We now know a lot more about what is happening in the nerves of persons experiencing any type of persistent pain and this is helping us to better develop customized treatment plans. Research is finding that nerves can become sensitized and begin to react to even normal sensations in a painful way. This mostly occurs in the spinal cord and brain, and pain can be experienced in any part of the body, even when there is nothing wrong with the joints or muscles in that area! There are many factors that may contribute to this "sensitization" in your nerves, and we can help you explore those factors and develop a comprehensive approach to treatment. Research is finding that whole person treatment – where physical, environmental, social, nutritional, mental/emotional, and other factors are all considered equally. Believe it or not, research has even found that learning about the science of pain actually reduces pain in many persons experiencing persistent pain.
